International and Domestic
The doctors and staff at Sutton Animal Hospital have extensive experience helping pets travel internationally as well as domestically. Whenever possible, we recommend having your pet travel in the cabin with you. Some airlines will restrict how many pets are allowed in the cabin, so we recommend discussing your plans with the airline as early as possible.
For international travel, we recommend checking the following USDA website for information on requirements of various countries: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel.
Contacting the consulate or embassy of the destination country is another way to verify any requirements, which can change frequently. Microchips are required for travel to many international destinations. Most countries will require an International Health Certificate be completed by a USDA Accredited Veterinarian after an examination and assessment of vaccination status. The certificate is then sent to the USDA Veterinary Services office to be endorsed by their Veterinary Medical Officer. Sutton Animal Hospital staff are experienced in this process and are here to help you with your trip. Please let us know as soon as possible where and when you plan to travel, so we have time to review entry requirements and complete any travel documents that may be required.
